Adilabad: Cadres of the BRS marked Deeksha Diwas across the erstwhile Adilabad district on Saturday.
Activists and leaders gathered at party offices in mandal centres, towns and district headquarters, where they unfurled the party flag to mark the occasion. They recalled how former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s fast-unto-death altered the course of the Telangana movement and compelled the Union government to create a separate state.
In Adilabad, former minister Jogu Ramanna and Boath MLA Anil Jadhav visited a photo exhibition organised as part of the Deeksha Diwas, after participating in the celebrations at the party office. They hailed Rao for spearheading the agitation and achieving Telangana, and later garlanded the Telangana Talli statue.
Meanwhile, MLA Kova Laxmi, BRS leaders Dr RS Praveen Kumar and Koneru Konappa, former Chennur MLA Balka Suman and former Mancherial MLA Nadipelli Diwakar Rao took part in celebrations in Asifabad and Mancherial towns. Similar colourful events were held in Nirmal.
