Hyderabad: Celebrating Vijay Diwas, the 16th anniversary of the Centre’s historic December 9, 2009 announcement to create Telangana, BRS leaders gathered at Telangana Bhavan and declared an all-out political war against the Congress government while hailing party supremo K. Chandrashekhar Rao as the sole architect of the State. They accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of “systematically destroying” Telangana in just two years.
Senior leader G. Deviprasad openly called upon the party cadre to treat Vijay Diwas as the launchpad to make Chandrashekhar Rao the Chief Minister of Telangana again and “rescue the State from Congress misrule”.
Attributing the Centre’s decision to Chandrashekhar Rao’s historic fast-unto-death, he said the Centre relented and announced the formation of Telangana due to his resolve. He lauded BRS president’s decade-long tenure, stating that he transformed Telangana into a role model for the country across all sectors with the spirit of the movement.
He accused Revanth Reddy of “destruction in the name of development” over the past two years, emphasizing the need for a comeback of BRS leadership to steer the state back toward progress.
“We must take Vijay Diwas as inspiration to work towards making K. Chandrashekhar Rao the Chief Minister again and rescue Telangana from ruin,” he urged party workers.
Declaring Chandrashekhar Rao as the only force behind Telangana’s formation, existence and development, former MP B. Vinod Kumar said if Telangana exists on this planet today, it is solely because of the BRS chief. He questioned the credentials of TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, noting, “He didn’t even participate in the movement—how would he know about K Chandrashekhar Rao’s deeksha?”
Referring to Article 3 of the Indian Constitution as the basis for Telangana’s formation under BRS leadership, he credited leaders like Harish Rao for standing by him day and night. He also pointed out that the Centre withdrew its announcement shortly after, suggesting that day be observed as “Vidroha Dinam” (Day of Betrayal). “As long as we don’t speak the truths, those spreading lies will write history,” Vinod Kumar warned, calling for vigilance against misinformation.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali and former Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Banda Prakash also spoke.
