BRS won nine corporators in the recent municipal elections.
Just a few hours before the voting, the party has decided to stay away from the Mayor’s election. Though the exact reason is not yet known, the change in name of the Mayor’s candidate is said to be the reason for its decision.
Initially, the BRS decided to support when the name of independent candidate S Komuraiah was proposed for Mayor’s post.
Dramatically, the name of congress corporator Mallikarjuna Rajender came to fore on Sunday night. Congress party reportedly changed Mayor’s candidate.
Upset over the ruling party’s decision, BRS has decided to stay away from the voting, it is learnt.
Out of 66 divisions, BJP won 30 followed by Congress 14, BRS 9, Independents 10 and MIM 3. It requires 34 corporators to get the Mayor’s post.
So, presently, no group has complete strength since 35 is the magic figure to capture the Mayor post.
