Hyderabad: A delegation from BRS Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency on Thursday met Hyderabad Collector Dasari Hari Chandana, Women and Child Welfare Department Secretary Anita Ramachandran, and R&B Chief Engineer (Buildings) Rajeshwar Reddy, and demanded that SPR Hills remain a sports playground.
The delegation sought relocation of the proposed Working Women’s Hostel construction to another site. They said the area, previously a quarry and low-lying land, was developed into a sports playground during the previous BRS government. Since then, residents use it for morning walks, while youth and students use it for sports and various social activities. An open gym was also established.
The BRS leaders demanded with the authorities not take up any construction in the area and urged the Hyderabad Collector to transfer the more than 6-acre land to either GHMC or the State Sports Authority and develop it as a full-fledged sports playground.
In a representation to the Secretary, Women and Child Welfare Department, the BRS delegation urged relocation of the hostel construction, stating that the area was not suitable for a hostel due to limited transportation facilities and opposition from locals. They also informed the Chief Engineer (Buildings) that the land was not suitable for construction.
