EAGLE Force busts interstate ganja network

Telangana EAGLE Force apprehended two persons at Sarapaka and seized 20 kg of ganja allegedly procured from Odisha. Police said the suspects were transporting the contraband to Karnataka, while the alleged supplier and receiver remain absconding.

Hyderabad: The Telangana EAGLE Force busted an interstate ganja transportation network and apprehended two persons on Monday. The police seized 20 kilograms of ganja.

The suspects were identified as Naveen Kumar (27), a resident of Shahapur in Yadgir district, Karnataka, and Vijay Kumar (32), a cook from Madhugiri in Tumkur district.

According to police, the duo had allegedly travelled to Odisha to procure ganja and collected 20 kg from Arjun of Papulur, Odisha. The payment was allegedly transferred through PhonePe to Vijay alias Kabheer Singh of Tumkur, suspected to be the receiver in the network.

“After procuring the contraband, the suspects began their journey towards Karnataka when their motorcycle developed a mechanical problem, forcing them to stay at Bhadrachalam. Acting on information about their movement, police intercepted them at Sarapaka and apprehended them,” said Sandeep Shandilya, Director, EAGLE team.

The police said Naveen Kumar allegedly became involved in ganja transportation due to financial difficulties and was operating under the guidance of Vijay alias Kabheer Singh.

The alleged supplier Arjun and receiver Vijay alias Kabheer Singh are absconding. Efforts have been launched to apprehend them, said officials.
