Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and raised objections over the State government’s move to appoint individuals on nomination basis for the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS).
A delegation led by Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Madhusudhana Chary met the Governor at Lok Bhavan here on Saturday. The delegation also submitted a representation to the Governor.
Later, addressing media persons, Madhusudhana Chary charged that the State government was conspiring to appoint individuals in different positions for the PACS.
This was against rules. The Chairpersons, who were elected in 2020, term ended in 2025 but the government extended the term for six months. Now, measures were being taken up to appoint individuals favouring them in different positions without conducting elections, he charged.
An appeal was made to the Governor to direct the State government from taking any further measures. In reply, he assured that irrespective of the measures taken by the State government, legal opinion would be sought and steps will be taken accordingly, Madhusudhana Chary stated.
“The State government is violating the rules. Without conducting elections, individuals are being appointed for PACS. This is against rules and highly objectionable,” he said.
