BRS delegation submits petitions to Collector on public issues in Khammam

BRS MLC Tata Madhusudhan and former Sathupalli MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah raised housing and irrigation issues with Khammam Collector Divakara TS. They sought cancellation of unofficial Indiramma housing lists, completion of canal works and immediate restoration of stolen irrigation transformers

Khammam: BRS MLC Tata Madhusudhan and former Sathupalli MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah met district Collector Divakara TS here on Friday and submitted representations concerning various public issues.

The leaders alleged that the selection process for ‘Indiramma’ housing beneficiaries under the L1 and L2 categories in the district was being conducted in violation of established norms. They alleged that unofficial lists prepared at ruling party camp offices were being sent for verification, undermining the rights of sarpanches and the autonomy of local bodies.

The BRS leaders demanded the immediate cancellation of the unofficial lists and called for official gram sabhas to be conducted under the chairmanship of sarpanches to ensure justice for poor families.

The modernisation works of the Siripuram major canal in Tallada mandal of Sathupalli constituency were pending, putting around 11,000 acres of ayacut land at risk of drying up.

Despite the waters of the Sitarama project flowing nearby, the pending works were preventing water from reaching the canal. The works should be completed on a war footing to release water, Veeraiah and Madhusudhan said.

Transformers serving an ayacut of approximately 3,900 acres under the Rathoni and Tallapenta lift irrigation schemes in Penuballi mandal have not yet been restored, even though a year has passed since they were stolen.

As the tender process had been completed, the transformers should be installed immediately, bypassing standard procedural delays, to save the standing crops, the leaders said.

The process of allotting land for an Eidgah and a graveyard at Jinkalatanda in Raghunadhapalem mandal should also be expedited, they added.

Party leaders Bellam Venugopal, Ravuri Srinivas, Banoth Konda, Billagiri Dhanunjaya, Medarametla Srinivas, Saida Reddy, Bikki Krishna Prasad and others were present.
