Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has demanded that the Central and Telangana State governments place all details before the people regarding the denial of Political Clearance by the Centre for Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s proposed visit to the United States.

BRS MLC Sravan sought a clear explanation from the Union Government on the exact meaning of the word “Inappropriate” used by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). He asked the Centre to clarify which programmes or meetings were allegedly inconsistent with the Chief Minister’s position or the stated purpose of the visit, and why objections were raised.

He also questioned the lack of clarity in the official schedule regarding the people and institutions the Chief Minister was scheduled to meet in the United States from August 27 to 30. The complete itinerary, details of meetings and the names of those who extended invitations must be made public, he demanded.

Sravan said reports were circulating that Political Clearance was denied because the Chief Minister was scheduled to meet Zohran Mamdani, Mayor of New York City. If that was indeed the reason, he asked why the Mayor’s name did not appear in the official schedule.

“The governments should not use Mamdani’s name as a political cover and instead disclose the actual reasons for the cancellation,” Sravan said.

He also questioned why the Centre had granted permission for the Chief Minister’s US visit in 2024 but denied clearance in 2026. The Centre and the State Government must explain what objections have arisen now that did not exist earlier, he said.

Dr. Sravan further demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy clarify whether the proposed visit was intended to attract investments to Telangana or to serve personal investment and business interests.

The Union Government must explain why Political Clearance was denied, while the State Government must disclose the actual purpose and complete details of the proposed US visit to the people of Telangana, the BRS MLC demanded.
