Hyderabad: Blaming the Congress government for the collapse of law and order in the State, BRS general secretary RS Praveen Kumar demanded that the Governor dismiss the Revanth Reddy government immediately. Calling the Congress government a mafia cabinet, he warned that if BRS did not win the Jubilee Hills bypoll, mafia rule would further tighten its grip on Telangana.
Addressing a press meet at Telangana Bhavan, Praveen Kumar said governance had descended into chaos, with Hyderabad witnessing high drama over the past two days. Citing the police’s failure to file an FIR against Minister Konda Surekha’s former OSD Sumanth, he accused the police of double standards. He said FIRs were filed swiftly against BRS leaders including KT Rama Rao and Manne Krishank, while no action was taken against those linked to ministers and senior Congress leaders.
“When a tribal farmer demanded urea, he was lathi-charged. But when aides of ministers threatened businessmen with guns, the police remained silent. Is justice for the common man the same as justice for ministers?” he asked.
The BRS leader demanded an investigation into the Chief Minister’s aide Rohin Reddy and the minister’s former OSD Sumanth, who were allegedly involved in threats and extortion related to the Deccan Cement issue. “If the call data of Revanth Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy is retrieved, the truth will come out,” he stated. He alleged that the government was running administrative affairs from private guest houses instead of the Secretariat.
He said internal rifts among Congress ministers including Ponnam Prabhakar, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, D Seethakka, Adluri Laxman and G Vivek Venkataswamy had exposed corruption within the cabinet. “Mafia rule has taken over Telangana. Ministers have become leaders of these mafia gangs,” he said.
