Hyderabad: BRS leaders demanded stringent action against Karnataka BJP MP Tejasvi Surya for equating Telangana formation to India’s Partition. They also asked him to issue an unconditional apology.

Former Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy termed the remarks unforgivable and sought Tejasvi Surya’s suspension from Parliament. He said the comments insulted the sacrifices of those who fought for Telangana statehood and hurt the self-respect of its people. He also criticised BJP and Congress MPs from Telangana for being silent spectators in Parliament.

Former Minister S Niranjan Reddy accused the BJP MP of displaying ignorance and demanded both Surya and the BJP to apologise. He called the comparison atrocious, reminding that Telangana was formed constitutionally after decades of struggle.

MLC Dasoju Sravan called the remarks unconstitutional and sought the Karnataka MP’s suspension from the Lok Sabha, along with legal action. He argued that equating Telangana’s formation with Partition undermined the Constitution and insulted the parliamentary process.

BRS leaders also questioned the silence of Telangana MPs from both BJP and Congress, warning that people would not spare their inaction. They demanded an immediate apology, failing which protests could be launched across the State.
