Hyderabad: The BRS Legislature Party wrote an open letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, seeking a comprehensive and independent probe into alleged corruption and scams during the Congress rule. The party demanded that the Chief Minister order an inquiry either by a sitting judge or through a House Committee, to ensure accountability. It also called for those facing allegations to step down to enable a fair investigation.

In the letter signed by its legislators, the BRS stated that over the past two-and-a-half years, the State witnessed a surge in irregularities across departments, eroding public trust in governance. The legislative party said allegations of direct involvement of Ministers and Congress elected representatives in these scams, triggered widespread public concern.

“The Ministers and elected representatives of the ruling party who are expected to safeguard the democracy and protect the State’s interests, themselves are allegedly involved in these irregularities. This is a matter of shame and stain on democracy,” the BRSLP said.

Citing the Chief Minister’s earlier statement in the Assembly that action would be taken if details were submitted, the BRS listed multiple alleged scams, including those related to civil supplies, AMRUT tenders, KLSR Infra tenders scam, Singareni scams, solar and thermal power projects, land scams including HCU and Lagacherla lands, prohibited lands scam, excise policies, HAM roads, TDR scam, HILT policy, Fourth City, and illegal mining.

The party said unless the government curbs the corruption and irregularities, people might suspect involvement and callousness of the Chief Minister himself.

The BRLSP alleged that public funds running into thousands of crores were being misappropriated, impacting welfare and development programmes. It accused the government of failing to uphold promises of transparency and accountability. “The responsibility to safeguard public funds and restore people’s trust lies with the government,” the BRS said, urging immediate action and recovery of allegedly diverted funds.
