BRS forced Congress govt to cancel Lagacherla pharma village, says Harish Rao

Speaking to the people in Siddipet on the occasion of "Deeksha Divas" on Friday, Harish Rao highlighted that the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) had halted the demolition efforts in the state capital due to BRS's strong opposition. He urged the BRS cadre to take inspiration from former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who had initiated a hunger strike on November 29, 2009, to secure statehood for Telangana. Rao called for the removal of the Congress government in the upcoming elections, accusing it of working against the welfare of the people.

Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao said the Congress government canceled the Lagacherla Pharma village notification because BRS fought hard against the pharma hub and supported the tribal farmers who had refused to give their lands to the pharma hub. Addressing the people in Siddipet on the occasion of “Deeksha Divas” in Siddipet on Friday, Rao said that the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) had also stopped the demolition works in the State capital as BRS put a brave fight against the move. He called upon the BRS cadre to draw inspiration from Former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who took up the hunger strike on November 29, 2009, to achieve statehood for Telangana, to resolve to dethrone Congress government in the coming elections since it acting against the welfare of the people.

Hailing Chandrashekhar Rao for going on an indefinite hunger strike for Telangana’s cause, he observed the Congress and BJP parties would not have such concern for the State’s development and future because they never put any efforts into achieving statehood. Recalling how Congress tried to suppress the Telangana movement, the former minister said that then Congress Chief Minister YS Rajashekhar Reddy encouraged the defections of BRS MLAs into Congress post-2004 elections. However, he said that they fought so hard overcoming all the challenges.

During the 2009 elections, they made the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) raise Jai Telangana’s voice by forging an alliance with them. However, the TDP cheated the Telangana people again post elections like the Congress and BJP did in the previous elections. When the Supreme Court delivered a verdict declaring Hyderabad a free zone for employment, he said that the BRS had raised its voice and gathered the support of all sections of people. Rao said the movement fueled the second phase of the Telangana movement. The former Minister recalled the role Siddipet and its people played in the Telangana movement.

Earlier, Rao garlanded a statue of Telangana Thalli and paid floral tributes at the martyrs memorial at Rangadhampally recalling the sacrifices of martyrs

Dubbak MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, MLC Dr V Yadava Reddy, Vanteru Pratap Reddy, K Rajanarsu and others were present.
