Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) hit back strongly at Congress leader Mynampally Hanumantha Rao, accusing him of making personal remarks against BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao and working president KT Rama Rao to divert public attention from the government’s failures and pressing public issues.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, BRS Assembly Whip KP Vivekananda said Congress leaders were rattled by the growing public support for Chandrasekhar Rao and the BRS in less than three years of Congress rule. He said that with the BRS, as the principal opposition party, exposing scams of the Congress government with evidence, the latter was encouraging its leaders to launch personal attacks specifically targeting opposition leaders.
He said Mynampally Hanumantha Rao was resorting to baseless allegations against the BRS leadership after suffering political setbacks. He stated that Hanumantha Rao received several political opportunities during his association with the BRS, including positions as MP candidate, MLA, MLC and Hyderabad city party president. He questioned Hanumantha Rao’s criticism of KT Rama Rao and warned him against seeking politically motivated cases against BRS leaders.
Former Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy accused Mynampally of indulging in personal attacks instead of addressing development issues in Medak and Malkajgiri. She alleged that the Congress government was preoccupied with cases and investigations against opposition leaders while public problems remained unresolved. She also said development in Medak, where Hanumantha Rao’s son Rohit is an MLA, had stalled and warned against further personal attacks on BRS leaders.
BRS spokesperson Manne Krishank dismissed Hanumantha Rao’s criticism of the BRS leadership and accused Congress leaders of spreading misinformation on issues such as the Raidurg land controversy involving SBI. He also alleged attempts by associates of the former Malkajgiri MLA to encroach on government land in Secunderabad Cantonment.
BRS leader Nandikanti Sridhar said Mynampally Hanumantha Rao should focus on securing funds and development projects for Malkajgiri rather than targeting KT Rama Rao. He asserted that BRS workers would not be intimidated by such threats and demanded that Congress leaders answer questions on public issues rather than engage in personal attacks.
