BRS leaders alleged that MLC Shambhipur Raju received death threats from MLA Mynampally Rohit and his father Hanumantha Rao. They met the Cyberabad Police Commissioner and demanded action. The leaders also criticised the Congress for rising lawlessness in Telangana
Mynampally, who joined the Congress in New Delhi last Friday, had claimed that the party high command had assured him two tickets based on 'survey' results.
Sasidhar Reddy had won from Medak in 2004 but lost to Mynampally Hanumantha Rao, who contested on Telugu Desam Party ticket in 2009. However, he could not get the chance to contest in 2014 and 2018 for various reasons.
Even before Malkajgiri MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao joined the Congress, local leaders from the party have made things clear to the party high command that he should not be given a ticket to contest the ensuing elections from the constituency.
In a video message released on Friday, Hanumantha Rao made his resignation official, stating that he had resigned from the BRS in accordance with the wishes of the people of Malkajgiri, his supporters, and well-wishers
