Hyderabad: BRS leader A Rakesh Reddy accused the Congress government of targeting opposition leaders for questioning its failed electoral promises, but delivering none of the promises made to farmers.
He demanded that the Congress apologise to farmers for its inefficiency in implementing the Farmers’ Declaration released by Rahul Gandhi.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, Rakesh Reddy said false cases were filed against BRS working president KT Rama Rao after he questioned the government over farmers’ issues in Warangal. He challenged the Ministers and the Congress MLAs to visit crop procurement centres and interact directly with farmers to know the ground reality.
Rakesh Reddy also accused the government of denying Rs 23,000 per acre to farmers under Rythu Bharosa financial assistance since the Congress came to power.
He said farmers continued to face hardship at procurement centres, with paddy farmers not receiving Rs 500 per quintal bonus, while maize farmers losing Rs 900 per quintal during procurement.
