Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi issued a show-cause notice to former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy over allegations of narcotics consumption at a private gathering near Hyderabad, which he reportedly attended. Acting on the directions of party president K Chandrashekhar Rao, BRS general secretary Soma Bharat Kumar issued the notice in this regard and asked Rohit Reddy to submit a written explanation within seven days.
In the notice, Bharat Kumar said media reports about the incident had caused damage to the party’s reputation and increased public concern. Stating that the party strictly opposes illegal activities, particularly drug use, he termed the allegations serious and unacceptable. He reiterated that as a responsible political party, BRS was committed to follow law and practice moral values.
Taking serious note of the allegations, the BRS issued the show-cause notice and sought his written explanation within a week. The party also directed him to stay away from all party programmes until a final decision is taken, warning that disciplinary action would follow if he failed to give a satisfactory reply within the prescribed period.
