Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has declared an all-out war against the Congress government’s controversial Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy (HILTP), terming it a Rs.5 lakh crore land scam that will hand over prime industrial land worth thousands of crores to private players at throwaway prices.

Under the direct instructions of party president K. Chandrashekhar Rao, BRS working president KT Rama Rao constituted eight high-level fact-finding committees comprising former ministers, MLAs, MLCs and senior leaders. These teams will visit industrial areas across Greater Hyderabad on December 3 and 4 to expose what the party calls daylight robbery of public money.

Speaking to senior leaders through a video conference on Tuesday, Rama Rao made a scathing attack on the Revanth Reddy government for looting the State with such massive scams.

“The land was originally allotted at nominal rates by successive governments solely for setting up industries and generating employment. Now the Congress government is converting these into ‘Multi-Use Zones’ and regularising them at just 30 percent of the pathetic SRO rates,” he said.

“Approximately 9,300 acres of prime land worth Rs 5 lakh crore in current market value is being virtually gifted to private individuals,” he alleged, adding that while the government claimed it had no land even to build Indiramma houses for the poor or crematoriums, it was generously doling out thousands of crores worth of industrial land to select private players.

Two-day intensive tours in eight clusters

The BRS has divided industrial clusters around Hyderabad into eight zones for systematic exposure and entrusted the task of fact finding to the party teams constituted for this purpose.
Cluster 1 was assigned to former minister T. Harish Rao, who will lead the team covering Patancheru, Pashamylaram and Ramachandrapuram areas.

Former Minister G Jagadish Reddy will visit Cluster-2, which has Nacharam, Mallapur, Uppal and Cherlapally industrial areas. Senior leaders S Madhusudana Chary, Marri Rajasekhar Reddy and Ravinder Rao will tour Moulali and Kushaiguda that come under Cluster 3.

KT Rama Rao, along with Satyavathi Rathod, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Madhavaram Krishna Rao and KP Vivekanand, will visit Jeedimetla and Kukatpally that are part of Cluster 4.

Former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav will lead the team to Sanathnagar and Balanagar in Cluster 5. Former minister Ch Malla Reddy and Shambipur Raju will inspect the Medchal Industrial Park in Cluster-6. Former Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy will cover Katedan and Hayatnagar areas in Cluster-7 and former minister Mahmood Ali will visit Chandulal Baradari industrial area in Cluster-8.

During the visits, the teams will interact with local residents and industry representatives, document the huge gap between actual market rates and the government’s proposed regularisation charges, and highlight long-pending public demands that could have been met using the same land.

The BRS has vowed to place the “real truth” of the alleged land scam before the people of Telangana and intensify its agitation until the anti-people policy was withdrawn, Rama Rao said.
