BRS leader Balka Suman demands Vivek to fulfill his poll promises

BRS district president Balka Suman demanded that Labour Minister Vivek Venkataswamy fulfil his election promises in Chennur and release a white paper on Congress-led development. He also questioned the shelving of major projects, including the Chennur Lift Irrigation Project

Mancherial: The BRS district president Balka Suman demanded that the labor minister Dr Vivek Venkataswamy fulfill his poll promises in Chennur Assembly constituency and to release a white paper on his achievements during 1,000 days ruling of the Congress. He along with former minister Koppula Eshwar addressed media persons in Kyathanpalli on Sunday.

Stating that the Congres`s had completed 1,000 days in office criticsing former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Suman asked when Vivek would set up industries and create 40,000 jobs as promised at the time of the elections. When would Vivek establish both a skill development centre and 100-bedded hospital and fulfill other promises made to electors during the polls, he questioned.

He wanted Vivek to release a white paper on developmental activities taken up by the Congress in Chennur segment so far. The BRS district president claimed that Vivek was inaugurating the works funded and sanctioned by the BRS government. He alleged that the minister was halting major projects taken up by the then government fearing the credit would go to the BRS.

Suman wondered as to why the flagship Chennur Lift Irrigation project was shelved. He recalled that the project was envisaged to irrigate approximately one lakh acres in Chennur segment spending Rs 1,700 crore. Works on a pump house of the project were commenced, rekindling hopes of farmers from the region. However, Vivek has not laid a focus on continuing the project. Several developmental projects have been shelved, Suman pointed out.

He demanded Vivek to immediately start developmental projects and to strive hard to grow the segment on all fronts in place of criticizing him at regular intervals. He further alleged that Vivek and his son Peddapalli MP Vamshikrishna were spoiling the tranquility of Mancherial district by encouraging factions for their vested interests instead of focusing on development of the region.
