Hyderabad: Coming down heavily on the Congress government for what he called a deliberate betrayal of the BC community, BRS leader Kyama Mallesh said on Friday that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had lost credibility by making empty promises to the people.

Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan, Mallesh, a BC leader, lashed out at the Congress party for fooling the BCs on its pre-election pledge of 42 per cent reservations, as outlined in the Kamareddy BC Declaration. “Revanth Reddy is willfully ignoring the technical aspects of implementing 42 per cent reservations. He has let down the BCs after creating false hopes about the enhanced reservations,” he charged.

He said that certain BC leaders were targeting BRS instead of holding Congress and BJP accountable and thereby were becoming a laughing stock. “They should be confronting the Congress and BJP leaders, not burning effigies of BRS leaders,” Mallesh demanded. Highlighting alleged manipulations in the caste census, he claimed the BC population was deliberately underreported to justify reduced quotas.

He urged the BC communities to deliver a “fitting lesson” to Congress in the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election. “Revanth Reddy thinks the poor and weaker sections are naive. But BCs will not spare him and will punish him appropriately,” he asserted. Mallesh also pointed out the lack of fairness in cabinet allocations, demanding berths for at least seven BC leaders in Revanth’s cabinet.

He warned that failure to deliver on the 42 per cent reservation promise would spell doom for Congress in the state. He also criticised the BJP, accusing its leaders of mere rhetoric without genuine commitment. “Why aren’t Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay pressuring Modi on BC reservations? And why isn’t Revanth Reddy doing what he can within his power for BCs?” he questioned. Mallesh declared that neither Congress nor BJP would be forgiven by the community. “There is no question of leniency; BCs will not tolerate such deceit,” he said.
