Kothagudem: Noticing the plight of farmers coming from faraway places early in the morning to PACS at Paloncha in the district, a senior BRS leader Kampelli Kanakesh Patel arranged free meals for them.
He said meals were served to farmers with the intention of showing that the farmers were the backbone of the country and people should help them as much as they could. He appealed to donors and BRS cadre to recognise the hardships of the farmers and support them.
Since the Congress government came to power in Telangana, the people were facing many problems while the farming community was facing severe difficulties. During the Congress party’s rule from 2004 to 2014, farmers used to stand in queues without food and slept at PACS offices for days, lathi-charged and were sent to jail, he reminded.
During the BRS regime from 2014 to 2023, enough urea was supplied to farmers without any hassle or long queues. But under the Congress rule, farmers are once again forced to suffer due to urea shortage.
Kanakesh Patel said the government should supply adequate urea to the farmers; otherwise, it should step down. BRS leaders Sangloth Ranjith, Marumulla Kiran, K Harshavardhan, Poojala Prasad, Alakunta Shobhan, Adapa Satyanarayana, Thota Lohit Sai and others were present.
