BRS leader Sohail urges police investigation into Rahmath Baig case

BRS leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail demanded a police probe into AIMIM MLC Mirza Rahmath Baig’s suspension, stressing that the issue should not be treated as an internal party matter but as one requiring transparency and accountability.

Hyderabad: BRS leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Saturday said the suspension of AIMIM MLC Mirza Rahmath Baig should not be viewed merely as an internal matter of the political party, asserting that it concerns the public as well.

Addressing the media, Sohail urged AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi to write to the Director General of Police and the Hyderabad Police Commissioner seeking a thorough investigation into the matter.

He said that if the allegations involved any serious offence, the police should conduct an investigation and register an FIR, if warranted by the facts, so that the truth could be brought before the public.

“The BRS stand has always been clear — what is wrong is wrong, irrespective of the party to which the person belongs,” Sohail said.

He added that the BRS had adopted a similar position in the case involving the son of a BJP MP.

The demand comes amid controversy surrounding Rahmath Baig, who was recently suspended from the AIMIM and asked to resign from the Telangana Legislative Council.

Sohail said the matter required transparency and a fair investigation rather than being treated solely as an internal party issue.
