Mancherial: BRS leader Nadipelli Vijith Rao on Monday alleged that the party would not remain silent if public funds were misused by the Congress government. Addressing a press conference, Vijith Rao accused local MLA Premsagar Rao of financial irregularities in development works, alleging that illegal tenders were floated in connection with projects.

He further alleged that the MLA was involved in a major scam linked to a proposed industrial park at Vempalli village and warned of action against those supporting the alleged irregularities. Vijith Rao claimed that tenders were re-invited for works for which foundation stones had already been laid, leading to escalation of project costs and wastage of public money.

He also alleged that Dalits were threatened and coerced into selling their land at Rs 13 lakh per acre for the project, and that their signatures were obtained on blank papers as consent. The BRS leader further accused the MLA of attempting a large-scale land scam by converting land use for residential purposes and allocating plots to those who allegedly paid bribes.

He claimed that irregularities worth Rs 500 crore were committed in the name of the industrial park and alleged that there were plans to misuse Rs 1.40 crore released from MMC for development works. Vijith Rao said a complaint would soon be lodged with higher authorities against officials for re-inviting tenders for works that had already been completed.
