Hyderabad: BRS leader and former MP B Vinod Kumar on Saturday condemned the police action on Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, who supported the Dalits’ protest for the second phase of Dalit Bandhu in Huzurabad constituency.

Criticising the police machinery for working under the influence of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, he warned that unnecessary police attacks would not be tolerated. He strongly condemned the lathi charge on Dalits and accused the government of freezing funds meant for Dalits.

The Dalit Bandhu scheme was chosen as a pilot project by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for the Huzurabad constituency. Kaushik Reddy participated in the protest only after being invited by beneficiaries of the Dalit Bandhu scheme.

Vinod Kumar emphasized that the fight for Dalit rights could not be stopped with lathi charges. He demanded that the government immediately instruct banks to release the frozen funds to the beneficiaries.

The KCR government had credited Dalit Bandhu funds into the accounts of 5000 beneficiaries, but the Revanth Reddy government froze these accounts, he said, urging the government to ensure that the beneficiaries received their funds without further delay.
