Warangal: Tension prevailed for some time on Friday after police tried to prevent former MLA and senior BRS leader Vinay Bhaskar and other leaders from going out of the BRS party office in Balasamudram area to stage a protest against attack on Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy by Congress workers in Hyderabad on Thursday.
A large number of police were deployed at the BRS party office to prevent party leaders and functionaries from staging a protest against the attack on Kaushik Reddy by Congress workers. As per the call given by the BRS leadership, Vinay Bhaskar and his supporters gathered at the party office to stage a protest.
However, when they tried to move out of the party office the police stopped them.
A heated argument broke out between Vinay Bhaskar and the senior police officials over preventing them from going outside the office. The police explained to them that to maintain law and order, they have banned protests in the district, hence they cannot leave the party office.
The police even prevented the media from interacting with the BRS leaders. In the meantime, a large number of BRS functionaries gathered at the Hanamkonda chowrasta and staged a protest.
The police, who were caught unaware, tried to disburse them, but when they refused to leave the place they were detained and taken to Hanamkonda police station.
In Mahabubabad district, the police put all the senior BRS leaders under house arrest and prevented them from staging protests.
Even in erstwhile Nizamabad district, the police confined BRS leaders and functionaries to their residence and did not allow anyone to stage a protest.
