BRS leaders under house arrest to prevent Bhongir bandh

Several former legislators including K Prabhakar Reddy, Gongidi Sunitha, former Rythu bandhu Samithi president K Amarendar were among the arrested.

Bhongir: Police have been placing several BRS leaders under house arrest to prevent enforcement of a bandh in the town called by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to protest against the attack on its party office by the ruling Congress party workers.

Reports said police moved in to prevent the BRS leaders from coming out of their houses in view of the Bandh Call in Bhongir and Alair constituencies. Several former legislators including K Prabhakar Reddy, Gongidi Sunitha, former Rythu bandhu Samithi president K Amarendar were among the arrested.


The police action in making house arrests of the BRS leaders came in for sharp criticism in view of the Sankranthi festival.
