Hyderabad: Several BRS leaders on Wednesday welcomed the Telangana High Court verdict restraining action on the Justice PC Ghose Commission report on the Kaleshwaram project. They said the verdict reaffirmed faith in the judiciary and the principles of natural justice. They demanded that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy apologise to farmers of Telangana for the delay in taking up repair works at Medigadda barrage and expedite the works for farmers’ welfare.

In a statement, former Minister and MLA Vemula Prashanth Reddy said the court’s direction not to act on the report and its observation on procedural lapses established that the findings lacked legal validity. He pointed out that allegations were made without issuing prior notices under Section 8, calling it a serious flaw. He accused the government of using the Commission to target BRS leaders.

Rajya Sabha MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra stated that the verdict exposed violations of due process and rendered the report untenable. He said the use of such commissions for political pressure was objectionable. He condemned political narratives around the Kaleshwaram project which were aimed at tarnishing the image of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and the BRS leadership.

Former Minister Koppula Eshwar called the judgment a setback to the Congress government. He said that with the verdict, attempts to subvert the Kaleshwaram project had been exposed. He raised concerns over delays in repair works over the past two-and-a-half years and called for immediate restoration to ensure irrigation support to farmers.

Former Minister S Niranjan Reddy also welcomed the verdict, urging the government to abandon vindictive politics and expedite pending works. He called on the Congress and BJP to apologise to farmers for baseless allegations against the Kaleshwaram project.

Several other leaders, including former Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, former MLAs Peddi Sudharshan Reddy and Chanti Kranthi Kiran, and BRS leaders G Devi Prasad and Palle Ravikumar Goud, among others, also hailed the High Court verdict.
