Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is making elaborate arrangements for its public meeting, ‘Singareni Karmika Garjana’, at Singareni Stadium in Godavarikhani on October 14. The party’s working president, K. T. Rama Rao, is expected to attend as the chief guest, along with senior leaders T. Harish Rao, G. Jagadish Reddy and others.
Former MLAs Balka Suman and Korukanti Chander, along with Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS) president Miriyala Rajireddy, performed the bhoomi puja at the venue on Monday, marking the beginning of preparations. Party leaders expect a large turnout of Singareni workers and local residents.
Speaking on the occasion, Suman said the meeting would focus on protecting Singareni’s assets, safeguarding workers’ rights and welfare, and addressing concerns over the Congress government’s policies. He accused the government of diverting the coal company’s wealth to private interests and undermining workers’ benefits.
The BRS has been questioning the Congress government over the delay in announcing Singareni’s profits for the previous financial year. The party has also sought details on the utilisation of funds earmarked for the company’s development over the past two years and demanded an immediate declaration of profits.
Rama Rao is expected to raise issues affecting Singareni employees and workers, including the demand for a 36pc share of profits for all workers. The BRS has also called on the government to clear the Rs 60,000 crore it claims is due to Singareni. The party has accused the government of deliberately reducing production to pave the way for the company’s privatisation.
BRS leaders appealed to Singareni workers to attend the meeting in large numbers. The party plans to use the gathering to mobilise workers against the government’s policies and intensify its campaign on the company’s finances and employee welfare.
