Hyderabad: Instances of the city police harassing the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) workers have come to light when plainclothes policemen raided the house of BRS minority leader and advocate Maulvi Wahed in Tolichowki and allegedly held out threates to his family members.
The BRS leaders alleged that the police was acting at the behest of the ruling Congress and AIMIM parties. Former Bodhan legisaltor Aamir Shakeel alleged that throughout Wednesday the police were harassing advocate’s family members. The police were pressurising them to reveal the whereabouts of Wahed. The police are apparently working on instructions of the Congress party with a motive to instil fear among the BRS party leaders,” alleged Aamir Shakeel.
The alleged police harassment comes in the backdrop of a pitched electoral battle in the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency bypoll.
The advocate’s family members have the footage recorded by the closed circuit television cameras which showed thec plainclothes policemen believed to be from the Commissioner’s Task Force entering the house and checking all the rooms.
BRS leader and HYC president Salman Khan, said the Congress was using police to harass the BRS leaders. He alleged that the Congress adopted a ‘threatening approach’ towards BRS senior leader from Erragadda, Sharif Qureshi and forced him to join the Congress party.
“The local AIMIM and Congress party workers brought a bulldozer to the house of Sharif Qureshi and threatened to demolish the house. To save his house and shelter for family, Sharif Qureshi joined the Congress party,” said Salman Khan.
