Suryapet: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA G Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday demanded that the ruling Congress allow the BRS to make a presentation in the Assembly on river water issues. He asserted that the party would expose the government’s lapses if given a fair opportunity.
Speaking to the media at his camp office in Suryapet, Jagadish Reddy questioned why the government was reluctant to permit the opposition to make its presentation on river water issues. “Let the Congress give its presentation and allow us the same opportunity. Then people will decide who betrayed Telangana,” he said, ruling out any disruption of House proceedings. He warned that if the BRS was denied an opportunity in this regard, the party would take the issue to the people, and a larger public movement would be inevitable.
He accused the Congress of denying the BRS a presentation out of fear that its actions on Krishna and Godavari river waters would be exposed, particularly in projects like Palamuru-Rangareddy project in Telangana and Nallamala Sagar in Andhra Pradesh. He said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was cooperating with anti-Telangana forces in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, risking Telangana’s rightful share of river waters.
Stating that rights secured through the Telangana movement under BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao were being given away, he pointed out that Nallamala Sagar was merely Banakacherla under a new name. He also objected to the appointment of officers and advisors in Telangana, allegedly suggested by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, calling it an injustice to the State farmers.
