Nalgonda: Demanding immediate justice to tribal farmer Sai Siddu and his family, BRS MLA G Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday demanded suspension of the police officers involved in putting him to third degree torture. He also called for a thorough inquiry and comprehensive support for the victim’s family.
The BRS leader who visited him in his village on Wednesday, said “Sai Siddu’s family has no one to fend for them now. He’s beaten so badly he can’t even work. The government must provide aid, compensation and ensure such police excesses never happen again. We won’t rest until accountability is served,” he asserted.
A host of BRS leaders including MLC Kota Reddy, former MLAs Ravindra Kumar, Bhupal Reddy, and Bhagat condemned the attack on the tribal youth. “This is not governance; it’s a police state,” said Jagadish Reddy.
Reddy alleged that police were filing fabricated cases and launching attacks on anyone who criticised Congress functionaries.
“Revanth Reddy hides behind the police shield to perpetrate atrocities. Even Superintendents of Police (SPs) in districts are not in a position to act independently. They should desist from framing innocents in false cases and authorizing such third degree treatment,” he said, also stating that Congress leaders were diverting urea stocks to the black market, citing instances in Miryalaguda where urea-laden lorries were rerouted to the black market.
