Hyderabad: BRS MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy denied allegations of encroaching on land within full tank level (FTL) of Durgam Cheruvu, terming the case against him baseless and malicious. He declared that he does not own any land in the Durgam Cheruvu area and challenged the officials to prove the charges against him.
On Friday, the Madhapur police registered a case against Prabhakar Reddy and his brother Venkat Reddy, following a complaint alleging encroachment of nearly five acres of lake land.
Speaking to the media at the Assembly premises, Prabhakar Reddy said his family had earlier purchased two acres when the matter was under consideration in the High Court, but the transaction was later declared invalid and Transferable Development Rights (TDR) were issued instead. Subsequently, the development of Durgam Cheruvu took place.
Refuting claims that the land was being used for private parking, the BRS MLA maintained that no government land was involved and that parking of vehicles in the area was a routine practice. He pointed out that properties belonging to actor Nandamuri Balakrishna and Lahari Estates’ Haribabu are located in the same vicinity, and he was being targeted for political motives.
He said the police case was registered based on HYDRAA, but not by any individual. He assured that he would cooperate with the investigation and fight the case legally. He vowed to stage protests at the properties that were constructed illegally within FTL limits of Durgam Cheruvu, if the illegal case was not withdrawn.
