Hyderabad: BRS legislators mounted a sharp attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing him of using abusive language in the Assembly instead of addressing pressing governance issues. They said the Chief Minister, who had assured to treat Opposition leader K Chandrashekhar Rao with respect, had inadvertently admitted that he had been mistreating and abusing the latter.
Addressing the media at the Assembly media point on Friday, MLA Dr K Sanjay said the new year had begun with verbal abuse by the Chief Minister, who lacked subject clarity and relied only on rhetoric. He objected to derogatory remarks against BRS chief and Leader of the Opposition K Chandrashekhar Rao. “The Chief Minister is seeking advice from KCR and also indulging in abusive rhetoric, in the same breath. He seems to be suffering from a bipolar disorder which needs to be treated,” he remarked.
Sanjay said both Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy lacked basic knowledge of river water sharing issues and irrigation projects of Telangana, prompting them to make irresponsible statements on the State’s water rights. “The government declared a crop holiday under the Jurala project, while releasing water under the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme. Yet, both the Chief Minister and the Minister are making misleading statements on water availability at the Jurala project,” he said. He suggested that the government replace irrigation advisor Adityanath Das, who he said was sympathetic to Andhra Pradesh, with experts rooted in Telangana.
BRS Assembly whip KP Vivekananda accused the Congress leadership of political theatrics by releasing videos of the Chief Minister meeting the Opposition leader as if it was unprecedented. However, he said questions raised by the Opposition in the Assembly were being ignored, microphones disconnected, and dissent systematically suppressed.
