Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in the wake of the Enforcement Directorate naming him in the chargesheet for his alleged involvement in the National Herald money laundering case.
In an open letter, Sravan charged Revanth Reddy with collecting crores of rupees in donations for Young India in exchange for political favours — a clear case of quid pro quo which falls under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He warned that the Chief Minister’s continuation in office violated constitutional morality and damaged public trust.
“Your continuation in office violates the very soul of public service and constitutional morality,” he stated, emphasising the need for him to hold the highest standards of integrity as the Chief Minister of Telangana.
Citing Article 164 and key Supreme Court rulings, Sravan argued that even the perception of corruption in Indian democracy demands accountability. He pointed to past resignations across parties, including L. K. Advani, Lalu Prasad Yadav, and Arvind Kejriwal, as moral precedent. “Resignation in such cases is not punishment, but the minimum moral duty. When the Chief Minister is tainted, the government, including the Cabinet, is collectively stained,” he added.
He urged the Governor to act if needed and called on Revanth to step down to uphold the dignity of the office.
