BRS MLC lodges complaint against suspension of OU professor

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan lodged a complaint over the suspension of Osmania University professor B Manohar, urging the Governor to intervene and revoke the illegal and unconstitutional action. He said the authorities suspended the professor without any inquiry, exposing a dictatorial mindset aimed at creating fear and anxiety across campuses.

In a statement, Sravan said universities were centres of intellectual freedom, not places for suppression of dissent. He warned that freedom of expression was being curtailed and officials were acting in a policing manner.

He appealed to the Governor who is also the University Chancellor, to end political interference in universities and safeguard democracy within the campuses.
