BRS MLC questions Minister Ponguleti on Rythu Bharosa and Indiramma housing delay
Slams the Minister for resorting to personal remarks against BRSLP deputy leader T Harish Rao after failing to accept the latter's challenge and seek a fresh mandate
Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan criticised Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy for allegedly displaying arrogance of power when questioned on the Congress government’s poll promises and administrative failures. He slammed the Minister for resorting to personal remarks against BRSLP deputy leader T Harish Rao after failing to accept the latter’s challenge and seek a fresh mandate.
“If the Congress is committed to its claims of fulfilling all Six Guarantees, it should accept Harish Rao’s challenge and dissolve the Assembly to seek a fresh mandate. Instead, the Minister made personal remarks using references to differently challenged persons, which is insensitive and unbecoming of a person in his position,” he said.
In a strong counter, Sravan said that instead of responding to the Opposition’s questions on the Congress government’s poll promises and failures, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy resorted to personal comments. He said the Minister’s remark amounted to intimidation rather than a political statement. He questioned whether the Revenue Minister was overstepping his role by making remarks on law and order and security matters.
The BRS MLC questioned the Congress government over repeated delays in the implementation of the Rythu Bharosa scheme. He stated that promises of releasing financial assistance within a week had been made repeatedly for the past 14 weeks, while farmers continued to await support during the ongoing agricultural season. He also demanded that the government release a white paper detailing the status of the farm loan waiver.
Sravan also asked about the progress of the Indiramma housing scheme, seeking an explanation on how many houses had actually been constructed and allotted by the Congress government over the last year. He said delays in identifying land reflected the government’s failure to fulfil one of its key welfare promises.
Accusing the Congress government of attempting to divert attention from its shortcomings by attacking the Opposition, Sravan said the focus should instead be on delivering farm loan waivers, Rythu Bharosa assistance, uninterrupted power supply to farmers and housing for the poor. He asserted that the Congress was given a mandate to address people’s problems, not threaten political opponents.
