Harish Rao targets Congress over unfulfilled promises after 1,000 days in power

Former Minister T Harish Rao accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil key election promises during its 1,000 days in power. He alleged that farmers, students and unemployed youth were ignored and challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to a debate.

Medak: Former Minister T Harish Rao alleged that the 1,000 days of Congress government rule were marked by conspiracies against the opposition, encroachment of lands and settlements, and ignoring the promises made during the election campaigns.

Addressing a protest programme organised at Kowdipally mandal headquarters as part of the BRS week-long statewide protest on Thursday to mark Congress’s 1,000 days in power, Rao said that the Congress candidates had even signed bond papers before the elections, promising to resign from the MLA posts if they failed to implement the promises.

However, he said that the Congress failed to implement Rs 4,000 pension, Rs 15,000 Rythu Bharosa, Rs 2,500 for women, distribution of student bharosa cards, scooties for women students, and 2 lakh jobs in the government sector. He accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of ignoring Rs 29,000 crore towards Rythu Bharosa for farmers besides denying Rythu Bhima by delaying the payment of insurance premium.

While the BRS government gave Rythu Bhima to 60 lakh farmers, Rao said that Revanth even failed to continue the scheme. When the people raised public issues, Rao accused Revanth of using objectionable language against opposition party leaders, students and unemployed youth, referring to his words of terming engineering students criminal waste and suggesting that the unemployed consume endrin.

Talking about the lands blacklisted under 22A, Rao called upon the people to prohibit the Congress from the State by dethroning it from power in the next elections for blacklisting the lands. Exposing Congress’s failure in supplying 24-hour power supply, Rao said the Congress could hardly supply 10-hour power supply to the farming sector. Accusing the State government and Centre led by the BJP of pushing farmers into crisis with their anti-farmer decisions, he said that the price of a bag of DAP increased to Rs 2,100 from Rs 900.

He challenged the Chief Minister to participate in a debate with him at Kowdipally over loan waiver implementation in the State. Accusing Revanth of spending 300 days of his 1,000 days in New Delhi, he said that the Chief Minister shuttled 77 times between Hyderabad and the national capital, but failed to get any projects or additional grants. MLA V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and BRS leaders also participated in the protest.
