Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan has demanded an independent judicial inquiry into allegations that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is running a “surveillance regime” from the Telangana CMO. Citing a report on a prominent English news portal, Sravan alleged that even Cabinet Ministers were under illegal watch, with phone tapping, tracking of Ministerial movements, and eavesdropping on private conversations reportedly taking place without judicial sanction.

Calling it a “dangerous betrayal of public trust and a direct assault on the Constitution,” Sravan likened the alleged snooping to Watergate type of political espionage and warned of a constitutional crisis.

“No democracy allows a leader to govern through distrust, paranoia, and secret surveillance of his own Ministers,” he said.

In a statement, Sravan urged Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to take action under Articles 159, 163(2), and 356, seeking a probe headed by a retired Supreme Court or High Court judge to identify those involved, including top police officials. He demanded that the findings of this inquiry be placed in public domain and those found guilty be prosecuted.

He stated that the alleged surveillance violates citizens’ fundamental right to privacy under Article 21, as well as provisions of the Telegraph Act, IT Act, and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. He also urged union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay to intervene, pointing out that constitutional governance in Telangana was under siege.
