Hyderabad: BRS MLC Sravan Dasoju expressed shock over the “Bunker Bed Tender Scandal” in KGBV schools unfolding in the Education department under the guise of student welfare.
Taking to X, the BRS MLC shared evidence and slammed the administration for the systematic looting of over Rs 160 crore of public money through an unholy nexus between high-ranking officials and political bosses.
He demanded immediate cancellation of the fraudulent tender and the initiation of a fresh process that provides opportunities to local Telangana MSMEs.
Earlier, high-quality bunker beds were supplied by local MSMEs for approximately Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000. However, in the current tender, the price per bed has been fixed at an astronomical Rs 35,830. This represents an excess payment of over Rs 100 crore above the fair market value, he said on X.
While the previous standard for beds was roughly 95 kg of heavy-duty 16-gauge steel, the current tender has reduced the weight to 75 kg. Logically, when raw material weight drops, the price should decrease. Instead, the price has nearly tripled, he said, demanding that the government explain the logic.
“Since KGBV schools are funded in a 60:40 ratio by the Central government, Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay must intervene to protect national taxpayers’ money,” Sravan said.
