Warangal: The BRS passed a series of resolutions at the Rythu Sangrama Sadassu in Warangal on Wednesday, demanding the Congress government to implement them on a fast-track basis or face the wrath of farmers. The party declared Warangal as the launchpad for its campaign against anti-farmer policies of the Congress and its failure to implement 34 promises made in the Farmers’ Declaration unveiled at Warangal on May 6, 2022.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao drew loud applause from the gathering at the meeting as he read out the resolutions and farmers backed the party’s demands. The BRS sought Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia for families of nearly 1,000 farmers who died since the Congress came to power, calling it a moral responsibility the government cannot evade.
The convention also demanded immediate implementation of all 34 promises made under the Warangal Farmers’ Declaration. A key resolution called for unconditional procurement of all crops at Minimum Support Price, along with a Rs 500 bonus per quintal for paddy. The BRS accused the government of leaving farmers waiting for weeks at procurement centres without clarity or support.
The meeting further pressed for the release of pending Rythu Bharosa assistance, skipped for three crop seasons, and full implementation of the Rs 2 lakh farm loan waiver. It also demanded the immediate revival of the Rythu Bima insurance scheme.
