Hyderabad: Former Ministers S Niranjan Reddy and V Srinivas Goud criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for his political remarks and lack of development in Palamuru.

Addressing a news conference at Telangana Bhavan, they accused Revanth Reddy of using language unbecoming of a Chief Minister while focusing on political criticism instead of governance.

They recalled that the Chief Minister, while addressing a public meeting at Kollapur, had mentioned the name of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao as many as 38 times in 40 minutes. While questioning the net contribution of Revanth Reddy to the development of the Palamuru region so far, they said there was no notable project implemented by the Congress government for the benefit of the backward Palamuru region. Niranjan Reddy pointed out that Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for a Young India School six months ago, but no progress had been made, and another school’s foundation was recently laid without any follow-up.

Srinivas Goud alleged that Revanth Reddy was aligning with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who he said had obstructed Telangana’s interests. He stated that Congress and TDP governments had historically neglected Telangana, citing delays in projects like Jurala and Kalwakurthy. Goud claimed Congress took four decades to build Jurala and reduced the RDS canal’s irrigation capacity from 87,500 acres to 8,000 acres. Chandrashekhar Rao had allocated 40 TMC of water for the Kalwakurthy lift irrigation project, but Naidu had stalled it, leaving reservoirs with only 4 TMC capacity.

Goud credited Chandrashekhar Rao for completing 90 per cent of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Project, spending Rs 32,000 crore and acquiring 27,000 acres of land. He said five reservoirs, pumping stations and canals were built, with one pump started at Narlapur. However, Revanth Reddy’s government has not shown any progress with the remaining work in 19 months. Five medical colleges were established in the region by the former Chief Minister. He also pointed out that Revanth Reddy shifted a medical college to Kodangal and failed to secure new ones from Delhi. Goud also alleged that contractors from Andhra Pradesh were handling government work in Kodangal.
