BRS stages protest at Mindspace over Hyderabad Metro Phase II delay
BRS leaders staged a protest at Mindspace junction in Hyderabad demanding continuation of the Airport Express route under Metro Rail Phase II. Police detained several leaders, including P Karthik Reddy, as the party vowed to intensify its agitation against project delays
Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Mindspace junction in Hyderabad on Monday after BRS leaders staged a protest demanding continuation of the Airport Express route of Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase II, a project cleared during their tenure. Party workers gathered near the damaged foundation stone at the site and raised slogans, accusing the Congress government of neglecting the expansion which is critical for easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in the IT corridor.
Led by BRS Rajendranagar in-charge P Karthik Reddy and other party leaders, the protesters raised slogans against the ruling dispensation. Police detained Karthik Reddy and several others after they refused to disperse despite repeated warnings. The BRS has vowed to intensify its agitation if the State government does not immediately resume work on Metro Phase II, reiterating that delaying the project would only add to the hardships of commuters in Hyderabad.
