BRS stages Statewide protests over unfulfilled guarantees, distributes Congress’ Due Cards

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged massive protests across Telangana against the Congress government’s 1,000-day rule, accusing it of failing to deliver six guarantees and 420 poll promises. Party cadres organised rallies, dharnas, human chains and distributed “Congress Baaki Cards” to highlight unfulfilled commitments.

Hyderabad: The BRS mounted massive protests across the State against the Congress government’s 1,000-day rule, and its failure to deliver its six guarantees and around 420 poll promises. The party leaders and cadres held rallies, dharnas, road blockades and human chains in all Assembly constituency headquarters across districts, while displaying giant flexies listing out the 420 unfulfilled promises.

In some places, the party also distributed “Congress Baaki Cards” (Due Cards) listing pending commitments to various sections of society in the State, including women, elderly citizens, farmers, youth, employees, students and others.

The campaign focused on the Congress promise to implement its guarantees within 100 days. BRS leaders alleged that even after 1,000 days, several commitments remained pending. In several places, cadres distributed “Baaki Cards” and questioned the status of promises including Rs 2,500 monthly assistance for women, enhanced pensions, one tola of gold under Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes, and scooters for students.

The protests were held as part of the State-wide campaign called by BRS working president KT Rama Rao. In Jayashankar Bhupalpally, cadres displayed a 420-foot banner and formed a human chain at Ambedkar Centre. Similar 420-foot banners were displayed in Suryapet, Bellampalli, Mulugu and Parkal, while a 100-metre banner was taken out in Bhainsa.

The party also targeted the government over farmers, youth and welfare beneficiaries. In Khammam and Kothagudem, the BRS leaders alleged shortcomings in Rythu Bandhu, loan waiver, fee reimbursement, irrigation and welfare schemes. In Secunderabad, protesters raised slogans over the non-payment of promised assistance to women, pensions and failure to fill government posts.

The protests were staged as part of a week-long campaign targeting the 1,000-day rule of the Congress government and its failure to deliver electoral promises. The BRS leaders declared that they would raise these issues in various public platforms and also the Legislative Assembly.
