Hyderabad: Alleging use of unparliamentary language by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka in the Assembly, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS ) members staged a walkout from the House on Wednesday.
Ruckus prevailed in the Assembly during discussion on demands for grants. As BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy was speaking on revenue, housing and I &PR departments, the Ministers, including the Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy repeatedly interrupted his speech.
Panel Speaker Revuri Prakash Reddy appealed to the members to cooperate with the Chair and asked Treasury and opposition benches not to indulge in cross talking.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao asked the Speaker as to how many times the Treasury benches would interrupt the BRS member’s speech.
The essence of democracy was to discuss, debate and dissent. Opposition benches would expose the government failures and Ministers should have restraint, he said.
“I have to say there are complaints about 30 percent commission being demanded and contractors staged protests in Secretariat against 20 percent commission,” KT Rama Rao said.
Irked over BRS working president’s comments, the Deputy Chief Minister said asked as to who was involved in 30 percent commission.
“I challenge KTR to prove his allegations and apologize to the House. Members cannot comment at will,” Bhatti Vikramarka said.
Congress members raised slogans and demanded the BRS working president to apologize.
Reacting sharply to Deputy Chief Minister’s comments, BRS Members, including Harish Rao, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Prashanth Reddy, Vivekanand, Gangula Kamalakar and others approached the well and raised objection over Bhatti Vikramarka’s language.
Harish Rao asked the Speaker as to how the Deputy Chief Minister use unparliamentary language.
However, the Deputy Chief Minister defended his comments and claimed he did not use such language.
Despite the Treasury benches attitude, BRS members appealed to the Speaker to permit Palla Rajeshwar Reddy to conclude his speech.
As the BRS member tried to object to the Deputy Chief Minister’s language, the Speaker asked BJP MLA Palvai Harish to speak.
In protest, the BRS members staged a walk out.
