BRS sweeps Patancheru constituency municipalities, set to form all five civic bodies

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi swept the municipal elections in the Patancheru constituency, winning three of five municipalities outright and securing leads in the remaining two. With ex-officio support and Independent backing, the party is set to form all five civic bodies.

Sangareddy: The BRS swept the municipal polls in Patancheru constituency, winning three of the five municipalities outright and securing a majority of seats in the remaining two.

The party is set to form the bodies in all five municipalities as it has sufficient ex officio member votes. Meanwhile, BRS leaders are also seeking the support of Independents where the party fell short of a clear majority.


The BRS bagged 15 of the 22 wards in Gummadidala municipality, while the Congress and the BJP managed four and two wards respectively.

In Gaddapotharam municipality, the BRS won 14 of the 18 wards, while the Congress and an Independent secured three and one wards respectively.

The BRS secured nine of the 18 wards in Indresham municipality, while the Congress and the BJP won six and two wards respectively. An Independent won one ward. The BRS is likely to form the body with the support of an ex officio member or an Independent.

In Isnapur municipality, the BRS won 12 of the 26 wards, while the Congress came a close second with 10 wards. The BJP and Independents won the remaining wards.

The BRS also secured eight of the 20 wards in Jinnaram municipality, while the Congress won six. The BJP and Independents won four and two wards respectively. The BRS is expected to form the body with the support of Independents and ex officio members.
