Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Saturday accused the Congress government of lacking administrative control and coordination within the Cabinet, alleging that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was bypassing Ministers and centralising decision-making.
Addressing a press conference here, former BRS MLA Gadari Kishore reminded that the Chief Minister publicly admitted that officials were not implementing his directions. But, he was simultaneously taking decisions in various departments without keeping the respective Ministers informed, he said.
Referring to the appointments to the Yadadri Temple Trust Board, Kishore claimed that Endowments Minister Konda Surekha was unaware of the appointments and, as a result, skipped the Cabinet meeting.
He further alleged that Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao had no idea about transfers within his own department but continued making statements defending the government’s handling of State finances out of fear that his Cabinet berth could be revoked.
Kishore also referred to the renewal of the services of a T-SAT official, alleging that the proposal was initially sent to IT Minister D Sridhar Babu, who kept the file pending for a few days. He claimed that the Chief Minister subsequently shifted T-SAT from the IT Department to the Education Department before approving the renewal.
Alleging that Ministers were remaining silent to protect their positions, Kishore said they were compromising instead of asserting their authority.
He further alleged that District Collectors were receiving instructions directly from the Chief Minister’s Office and members of the Chief Minister’s family, placing them under immense pressure. IAS and IPS officers were complying with such directions out of fear of losing their posts, he claimed, while cautioning that officials would also be held accountable for their actions if there was a change in government.
“I fail to understand whether Revanth Reddy is running a government or a circus,” Kishore remarked.
