Hyderabad: BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar on Thursday accused the Congress government of pushing lakhs of students into crisis by failing to release fee reimbursement dues of nearly Rs 8,000 crore. He said students were unable to pursue higher studies or apply for jobs because the college managements were withholding certificates due to pending government payments.
“This problem is no less than the urea crisis that farmers are facing. Farmers are on the streets, but students are suffering silently,” he remarked.
Praveen Kumar said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who is also the Education Minister, remained inaccessible to students and was busy filing illegal cases against the BRS leaders. He questioned the government’s priorities. “Didn’t farmers and students vote for you? Why are you so negligent towards them?” he asked.
The BRS leader warned of intense protests if the arrears are not cleared immediately. “If justice is not done, we will lay siege to Gandhi Bhavan and the Chief Minister’s residence,” he said.
