Hyderabad: Asserting that the cheap pressure tactics of the Congress government to intimidate leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would not work, party working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday said recent incidents were increasingly proving that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his party lacked respect for the Constitution and the law.

Pointing out that notices were being served to former minister T Harish Rao in connection with the phone tapping case despite the Supreme Court and High Court earlier dismissing such allegations for lack of evidence, he said these tactics would not deter the BRS from questioning the Congress government.

“Even if a 1000 notices are served and 100 more Special Investigation Teams are constituted, the BRS will continue to question the Congress government for its failures,” Rama Rao asserted.

Addressing a press conference here, he reiterated that the party had immense respect for the judiciary and would keep fighting false and fabricated cases.

Ridiculing the Congress for being known as ‘Scamgress’, Rama Rao pointed out that one Congress minister was dubbed the ‘20 percent commission minister’, while Revanth Reddy himself was caught red-handed in the cash-for-vote scam.

“That’s why he is trying to rub the same charges on other leaders,” he said, adding that every time a new scam was exposed, the Congress government adopted methods to divert public attention. Stating that Harish Rao was served the latest notice after exposing the Chief Minister’s brother-in-law Srujan Reddy’s involvement in the Singareni tender rigging episode, Rama Rao said the Chief Minister’s family had manipulated nine Singareni tenders so far. The site visit clause in the tenders was made mandatory, though this was against the regular practice adopted by Singareni. All this was done to benefit a particular company, he alleged.

“Though Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced that the Naini coal block tenders have been cancelled, the same irregularities are being adopted for other tenders,” Rama Rao said, also accusing the Congress government of trying to mislead people by leaking false information to news channels.

“If the phone tapping charges were real, why did not one officer make a public statement on that?” he asked, wondering how long Revanth Reddy would continue such dramas of baseless allegations.

The BRS working president also questioned the BJP’s silence on the entire Singareni tender scam.

“Union Minister G Kishan Reddy should immediately order a probe into the issue with a Supreme Court sitting judge. If not, it will be presumed that Kishan Reddy is also involved in the scam,” Rama Rao said.

Revanth Reddy and police officers singing to his tunes should bear in mind that the BRS would return to power in the State in two years. All the false cases being booked would be dealt with seriously and the police officers would have to pay for their misdeeds, he added.
