Jagtial: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao made a strong political comeback pitch, declaring that the party will return to power with a decisive majority in the next Assembly elections. He asserted that the next government in Telangana would be “BRS and BRS alone”.

In an aggressive and emotionally charged speech during the massive public meeting in Jagtial on Monday, Chandrashekhar Rao took a dig at the Congress leaders, frequently referring to his death. He declared that, notwithstanding their wishes, he will continue serving the people of Telangana until his last breath. “Even if I have to be reborn a thousand times, I will continue to fight for Telangana. Even if they take a hundred births, they cannot separate me from the people,” he said.

Launching a scathing attack on the Congress government led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the BRS chief accused it of failing to sustain key welfare schemes initiated during the BRS regime. He particularly questioned disruptions in the drinking water supply under Mission Bhagiratha, claiming that a scheme that delivered water to every household for five years is now in disarray. “We built the system and handed it over. They are unable even to maintain it,” he said, warning that people would “teach a fitting lesson” if basic services are not restored.

Citing BRS’ governance record, he recalled flagship initiatives like Mission Kakatiya, which rejuvenated thousands of lakes and improved groundwater levels with active farmer participation. He maintained that the decade-long BRS rule transformed Telangana into a leading State across sectors through work on the ground, and not mere rhetoric.

Chandrashekhar Rao also attacked the Congress government over Musi Riverfront development project, terming it a massive real estate scam. Questioning the need for large-scale demolitions, he stated that thousands of poor families were being displaced in the name of river rejuvenation. “Is it necessary to demolish 10,000–15,000 homes? This is nothing but land grabbing,” he charged.

Taking aim at HYDRAA, he said it symbolised administrative excess and declared that it would be thrown out ‘lock, stock and barrel’ immediately once BRS returns to power. “My first signature will be to uproot and dump this HYDRAA, which is destroying lives of the poor,” he declared.

The former Chief Minister lashed out at widespread governance failure. He stated that while the condition of local bodies deteriorated, the State finances were strained, and multiple sections, from employees to students and daily wage earners, were in distress. The Government employees were not getting pay revision and the retired employees were not getting their money towards retirement benefits.

Recounting the Telangana movement, Chandrashekhar Rao said the statehood was the result of a 14-year struggle, followed by 10-year BRS rule. However, he accused the Congress of reversing those gains. He expressed confidence that public anger against broken promises and misgovernance would translate into electoral support for BRS.

“The Congress promised Six Guarantees and over 420 promises, but delivered none. People of Telangana have not only been betrayed, but their lives have been ruined due to lethargy and inefficiency of this Congress government. We must launch another movement from Jagtial to root out this government and restore the glory of Telangana,” he declared, signalling the beginning of an aggressive political resurgence of BRS and revival of Telangana.
