Hanamkonda: The activists of BRSV staged a protest at Kakatiya University (KU) here on Thursday, demanding cancellation of the recently conducted Group-1 examination and burnt an effigy of Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC).

KU police took the protesters into custody and shifted them to the KU police station. Speaking to the media, KU BRSV president Byrapaka Prashanth and in-charge Jatti Rajender, along with state general secretary Sarath Chandra Rajender, accused the Congress government of playing with the lives of unemployed youth.

They demanded the government follow the High Court’s directions and conduct the exams again in view of alleged irregularities at several exam centres. They also demanded the resignation of the TGPSC Chairman, taking moral responsibility for the discrepancies.

Prashanth said that of 28 centres where the test was conducted, 71 were selected from two centres specifically allotted for female candidates at Koti Women’s College. Only 139 candidates were selected from the remaining 26 centers.

He said that TGPSC had stated that only nine percent of the 563 jobs were earmarked for Telugu medium students. Out of 12,381 candidates who took the exam in English, 508 were selected, while only 56 out of 8,694 candidates made the cut.

This has caused serious injustice to candidates from the Telugu medium stream. The government should ensure justice by refraining from approaching the High Court Division Bench or the Supreme Court, the activists said.

BRSV leaders Kalakotla Suman, Gandrakota Rakesh Yadav, Gollapalli Veeraswamy, Korapelli Rajesh, Rasuri Rajesh, Burra Mahesh and others participated in the protest.
