Budget 2026: Telangana got raw deal in Union Budget allocations, says Bhatti Vikramarka

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka criticised the Union Budget, claiming Telangana was denied fair allocations despite repeated appeals. He highlighted the exclusion of projects such as Musi river rejuvenation, Regional Ring Road, Metro Rail expansion, and a semiconductor unit.

Hyderabad: Stating that Telangana received a raw deal in allocations in the Rs 53.47 lakh crore Union Budget presented in Parliament on Sunday, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka asked Members of Parliament from the State to set aside political interests and submit representations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The State government had expected Central assistance for Musi river rejuvenation, the Regional Ring Road, Metro Rail expansion and other infrastructure projects. However, these hopes were dashed, he said while addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Telangana had personally requested the Prime Minister for a semiconductor unit, but such projects were granted to other States in the Budget, discriminating against Telangana, the Finance Minister said.

Similarly, the failure to include Telangana in the bio pharma allocations announced by the Centre was extremely disappointing, he added.
“In the Orange Economy, Hyderabad centric activities were shifted to Mumbai. Ignoring Hyderabad and choosing Mumbai instead is unjustified,” Bhatti Vikramarka said.

Telangana had urged the Central government to permit a fiscal deficit of four percent, but the Centre itself fixed a fiscal deficit of 4.3 percent while denying permission to Telangana, he said.
